Entry Channel - vessel draft and tides

The entry channel is currently only an all tides entry for vessels with a draft of 2ft (60cm’s) or less.

Vessels with deeper drafts will need to consider tides when entering and leaving the marina.

LAT at Cowell is 0
CD is -1.18 AHD
The Marina basin has been excavated to 3.5 AHD
The highest points in the main channel are 1.8 AHD

Therefore, if low tide is .21, Marina Depth will be 3.5-1.18+.21 = 2.53metres
Channel Depth will be 1.8-1.18+.21 = .83 metres

If tide is 1.1, Marina depth will be 3.5-1.18+1.1 = 3.42 metres
Channel depth will be 1.8-1.18+1.1 = 1.72 metres

It is important that all marina users understand these calculations and have read and understood the entry channel chart.

It is generally recommended that vessel operators allow a buffer of 60cm below their keel for safety
